1. Overview & Core Commitment
Welcome to Aura Sleep ("the App"). The App is developed and operated by an independent developer dedicated to providing a tranquil, ad-free acoustic experience with high-fidelity nature soundscapes, scientific white noise, and binaural brainwave sound therapy.
Our Core Privacy Promise: We respect your silence and your peace of mind. The App does NOT contain third-party advertising SDKs, does NOT integrate behavioral tracking or analytical telemetry SDKs, does NOT operate remote user database servers, and NEVER collects, stores, or sells your personal identity information. All sound configurations and recorded audios remain strictly on your local device.
2. System Permissions & Data Processing
To provide sleep sound mixing and personal soundscape creation, the App may request the following system permission:
- Microphone Access (Optional): The App offers a custom ambient sound recording feature. Only when you explicitly initiate a recording to capture ambient soothing sounds around you (such as rain on the windowsill, wind chimes, or gentle nature audio) as your custom sound track, the App requests microphone permission. The recorded audio files are processed locally and stored exclusively within the App's secure sandboxed storage on your device. Audio recordings are never uploaded, analyzed, or shared over any network. Denying microphone access will simply disable the custom recording feature, while all 36+ built-in official soundscapes and mixing features remain fully operational.
- Audio Playback & Background Audio: The App uses Apple's native AVFoundation framework to provide smooth background audio playback while your screen is off or while switching between apps. No personal information is gathered during audio sessions.
3. Local Storage & System API Declarations
In accordance with Apple's Privacy Manifest guidelines, the App declares the following system API categories:
- User Defaults (UserDefaults - CA92.1): Used to persist your local mix configuration (active tracks, individual sound volumes), sleep timer preferences (countdown duration and fade-out settings), favorite preset lists, and theme preferences directly on your device. This data is purely local and never synced to external servers.
- File Timestamp (FileTimestamp - C617.1): Used within the local app container to organize, sort, and manage timestamps of your custom recordings and exported master-mix audio files.
4. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
The App provides optional "Aura Pro" premium memberships (including monthly auto-renewing subscriptions, yearly auto-renewing subscriptions with a 3-day free trial, and lifetime non-consumable access) through Apple's native StoreKit system:
- All financial transactions, billing processing, and subscription renewals are managed solely and securely by Apple Inc. via the App Store.
- The developer has no access to and never stores your credit card details, payment accounts, or Apple ID credentials.
- The App verifies digitally signed App Store receipts locally on your device solely to unlock premium features (such as full sound catalogs, multi-track mixing, and high-fidelity 60-minute audio exports).
5. Information We Do NOT Collect
In adherence to strict data minimization principles, the App does NOT collect:
- Personal identifiable information such as your name, phone number, email address, or government ID;
- Contacts, address books, calendar appointments, or personal notes;
- Precise GPS location data or location history;
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA) or cross-app tracking fingerprints;
- Biometric data (Face ID, Touch ID) or clinical health records.
6. Data Retention & User Control
You have absolute control over your local data:
- Deleting Custom Audio: You can delete any custom audio recordings directly within the App at any time.
- Managing Permissions: You can grant or revoke microphone permissions at any time via iOS Settings > Aura Sleep.
- Complete Data Removal: Uninstalling the App from your device will prompt the iOS system to permanently and irreversibly erase all sandboxed preferences, custom mixes, and audio recordings.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is a general-utility mindfulness and sleep aid tool and is not specifically directed toward children under 13 (or the legal threshold in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you are under the age of majority, please use this App under parental guidance.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product enhancements or evolving legal standards. Any revised version will be published on this page with an updated revision date. Your continued use of the App following the posting of modifications indicates your agreement to the updated policy.
