Video Compression Privacy Policy

Your media is processed on your device by default.

Overview

Video Compression (the “App”) is an iOS app for compressing, converting, and editing video and related media files. This policy describes how the App handles your information.

1. Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store, sell, or send the following to developer-operated servers:

• Videos, audio, images, subtitles, or processing results that you import
• Your name, email address, phone number, or account information
• Device identifiers, location, usage analytics, or advertising-tracking data
• Subtitle text generated from your media

2. Local Processing and Retention

Your selected media and results are processed on your device. Imported copies, task state, history, and output files may be kept in the App sandbox or the system temporary directory.

• Supported temporary media older than 24 hours is removed when the App starts; you can also request cleanup in the App.
• History and related outputs remain on your device until you delete them in the App, clear App data, or uninstall the App.
• Results leave the App only when you choose to save or share them through system features.

3. System Permissions

The App requests permissions only when you use the associated feature:

• Photo Library add access: to save a result you choose to the system photo library;
• Photo Library read/write access: to import media you select or, only at your request, replace an original video with a result;
• Speech Recognition: to turn audio in media you select into SRT subtitles;
• Notifications: to send a local completion alert when background processing finishes.

Denying a permission affects only the related feature. You can change permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

4. On-Device Subtitle Recognition

The subtitle feature uses Apple’s Speech framework and requires on-device recognition. Audio and recognition results are not uploaded to our servers. If the device, system, language, or local language resources do not support on-device recognition, the feature is unavailable.

5. Open-Source Components and Sharing

The App uses FFmpeg and related open-source media components for local encoding and decoding. These components do not send your media or personal information to their authors; licensing information is available in the App’s third-party notices.

If you deliberately share a file through the system share sheet, the receiving app or service handles it under its own privacy policy. Please confirm the recipient before sharing.

6. Security and Deletion

Local files are protected by the iOS app sandbox. Since we do not collect App data on our servers, there is no server-side user profile for us to export or delete. You can remove local data using the App, iOS storage management, or by uninstalling the App.

7. Children

The App is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect children’s personal information. It does not provide public posting or social features.

8. Changes to This Policy

We will update this policy and related App Store privacy disclosures if the App’s features or data practices change. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate notice.
